Apogee and Perigee moons

A perigee moon - when it's closer to the earth. Large and round and glowing bright.

An apogee moon - when it is furthest away from the earth.

Apogee and perigee

Close or far away

Bright or dull

Round or crescent

Half or full

High and preposterous and separate—
Lozenge of love! Medallion of art!
O wolves of memory! Immensements! No,

One shivers slightly, looking up there.
The hardness and the brightness and the plain
Far-reaching singleness of that wide stare

Is a reminder of the strength and pain
Of being young; that it can’t come again,
But is for others undiminished somewhere. (excerpt from Philip Larkin's Sad Steps)

I love the moon.

I love the words Apogee and Perigee in equal measures
